Spring Panfish Location Many anglers enjoy the fast action panfish (sunfish, crappie, perch) offer in the spring. In the North Country, these tasty, scrappy fish become very active in the months of April and May. Look for them in water that warms faster then the surrounding environment in lakes, rivers, streams and ponds. Mud bottom back water and bays with or without streams, creeks, or rivers flowing into them can be fantastic locations. Insects, minnows, and fish of all species are attracted to the warmer water.
One of my favorite fishing presentations is a small bobber and a small hair jig. When twitched or danced a bit under a bobber most panfish cannot resist. Try it this spring; it’ a great way to start your fishing season! - Tip Courtesy Cody Roswick.
