The redesigned 202 Pro-V GL exemplifies Lund Boats’ dedication to uncompromising craftsmanship, innovative fishing-first designs and premium performance. It is an ideal multi-species fishing platform for scenarios ranging from big water to small inland lakes and rivers, while also providing excellent recreational capability.
To help explain this versatile boat’s long list of features, we interviewed Jesse Hanish, Lund Director of Sales and Customer Service, and Kyle Agre, a Lund pro-staff and experienced Pro-V GL owner. The following summarizes these conversations.
Improvements to performance, layout, fishability, storage and other features have enhanced the 202 Pro-V GL’s overall versatility as a multi-species fishing platform. It continues Lund’s legacy of 20-foot fiberglass fishing boats delivering premier performance on big water, like the Great Lakes, Mille Lacs and Lake of the Woods; however, equally impressive is the 202 Pro-V GL’s fishing flexibility and capability across a wide range of scenarios. From trolling walleye and salmon offshore to casting the shallows for smallmouth, muskie or panfish — and everything in between — the 202 Pro-V GL’s versatility makes it the ultimate fiberglass fishing boat for big to small water angling adventures all across the country.
Another focus of the redesign was improving recreation capability. As a result, the 202 Pro-V GL not only offers professional-level fishability, but also recreation and comfort features suitable for water sports and evening cruises around the lake with family and friends.
Feedback from Lund’s Voice of the Customer program, Lund pro-staff and dealers, along with market research influenced this boat’s design in several areas. It certainly was a factor in the redesign team’s focus on identifying opportunities to boost performance and, subsequently, successfully making the refreshed 202 Pro-V GL able to get up on plane faster than ever.
Customer feedback contributed to the addition of on-the-go rod storage at the bow deck and in the cockpit. This feature gives anglers an easy way to quickly secure rods when moving from one fishing area to another.
The 202 Pro-V GL delivers excellent performance and a dry ride as a result of its IPS2 fiberglass hull. The boat rides high with its nose above the water, and its outward flared freeboards deflect waves and water away from its interior.
This boat has a quick hole shot, and fantastic handling and maneuverability when it’s on plane. These performance attributes are the result of the IPS2 fiberglass hull’s pronounced center pad, set-back transom, full length keel, lifting strakes and reverse chines.
At slower speeds, boat control and agility are just as impressive. The IPS2 fiberglass hull makes the 202 Pro-V GL hug a break line like a train on tracks when drifting or trolling, in either forward or reverse.
The boat has a roomier cockpit with comfortable seating for six. This was accomplished, in part, by redesigning the aft deck to include integrated jump seats as well as eliminating the storage pods from the outgoing model. The deck improves fishability with its dual seat pedestals, nonslip marine mat covering and massive, 24.5-gallon, 46-inch livewell, which features a divider, pump out and bait net.
These layout, spacing and seating refinements bring recreational benefits. As do the aft deck’s boarding ladder and ski-pylon.
The boat’s styling has been elevated in a number of areas. It comes in 15 color package options and features 75th Anniversary badging.
The fully bonded frameless windshield with custom cast corners also contributes to the boat’s new edgy design. The windshield is for more than good looks, though. It adds extra strength at the boat’s widest point, which is another reason the 202 Pro-V GL is such a dependable performer in rough water.
Completely wood-free construction demonstrates Lund’s commitment to using quality building materials and supporting long-term durability. Other premium components include Pro-Ride seats with air ride pedestals, stainless steel hardware, an upgraded electrical system and improved LED interior lighting.
The purpose-driven console design deserves mention in terms of fit and finish. It has a flat mounting surface with enough space for mounting two 12-inch locators side by side. Backlit, easy-to-read console switches have been added, along with lots of point-of-use storage.
Anglers who cast for musky, bass and walleye will appreciate the front deck’s spaciousness, many storage options and amenities to support a full day on the water. Up front is the command center, which has tool storage, a cup holder, a 36-volt trolling motor plug, a trim switch and the space to flush or gimble mount a 12-inch locator. The deck also has an insulated 24-inch bow livewell, which doubles as a cooler.
There are integrated back rest cushions for comfort when sitting on the deck. Add the optional bow deck floor cushions, and the bow becomes a relaxing spot for enjoying leisurely cruise or soaking up some sun.
Like all Lund boats, the 202 Pro-V GL is designed to use every square inch of space to maximize fishing tackle and gear storage. Capacity and functionality of point-of-use tool, tackle and rod storage throughout the boat increase.
The lockable, 15-rod center rod locker is bigger and now accepts longer rods at all levels. This three-tier system has space for six 9’6”, five 9’ and four 7’6” rods.
Both consoles feature a large glove box, throw trays and cupholders. At each footrest is under-console storage for eight 3700 series tackle trays. The cockpit area also offers ample side storage compartments.
Deck storage is abundant and deep. The compartment openings incorporate raised frames with bubble and door foam seals to channel away water and help protect gear. A large bow deck door contains a built-in holder for a Lund ruler, which comes standard with the boat. Lifting either of the bow deck back rest cushions reveals a storage box for up to four 3700-series tackle trays.
Last but not least, the SportTrak channel runs along the cockpit and bow. This feature gives countless options for mounting rod holders and other accessories.
Being part of Lund’s flagship, best-selling boat family, the redesigned 202 Pro-V GL stays true to its fish-first DNA. With a legendary IPS2 fiberglass hull, premium performance, innovative fishing features and enhanced recreational capability, this versatile boat is built to exceed expectations and, in doing so, sets a new standard in the fiberglass fishing boat category
