HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN FISHING?
Since I was 4 or 5 years old or could cast a rod and reel.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A LUND PRO-STAFF?
The fishing industry is full of so many brands, and as a guide and tournament fishing having a brand that is loyal to its customers and has a product that is tried and true means alot to me. Being able to become a member of the Lund Pro Staff has always been something I hoped to have the opportunity to do and be part of.
CAN YOU TELL US THE LARGEST FISH YOU HAVE EVER CAUGHT?
45” Musky
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I grew up as a farm kid in Northwest Iowa in a little community named Sanborn, Iowa. Growing up you would have found me fishing farm ponds, wearing waders and fishing the Iowa Great Lakes and local rivers, and running around in the summer on Lake Vermilion on family vacations in a 16ft Lund with a 25 HP motor chasing whatever I could catch.
WHERE DO YOU MOSTLY FISH?
I spend the majority of my summer fishing on Leech Lake and its surrounding area. Our guide service Leisure Outdoor Adventures spends our summer fishing Leech, Cass, and many of the lakes in the Walker and Hackensack Areas. I have grown a passion for fishing tournaments and will try to fish 3-5 a year. You will see me fishing the LLWT on Leech Lake, AIM on Leech, GRAHA Walleye Shootout on Lake Pokegama in Grand Rapids and hopefully Lund MANIA on Ottertail.
WHAT IS THE BEST FISHING TIP THAT YOU EVER RECEIVED?
Don’t fish memories! Somedays you just have to go fishing and trust your gut. Fishing memories will more often than not pan out for an angler.
IN WHAT WAYS ARE YOU INVOLVED IN THE ANGLING COMMUNITY?
I am very loyal to my sponsors and through social media, boat shows, and other events work hard to give them great representation. To go along with that, I spent my summers guiding and taking people fishing, which as an educator and football coach during the school year goes hand in hand nicely. To be a fishing guide, means to educate people of all skill levels and abilities, and the gratification that goes with putting the net under their first, biggest, or most memorable fish is a feeling that overwhelms me every time. To go along with those duties, I am the President of Leisure Outdoor Adventures Guide Service, so I spend many hours not only coordinating the guide service but also working with our sponsors, resorts, and other businesses. Another great thing we started this past year with Lund Boats was the Ultimate Fishing Camp. I had the pleasure of helping organize and run the event, and I can tell you this you do not want to miss out on this opportunity to fish with some of the best Lund Pros in America.
PICK 5 WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOURSELF
Passionate, Motivated, Fun, Organized, and Laid Back.
WHAT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF YOUR LIFE?
There are too many, but when I married my wife Emilee and the years by daughters Macin and Hayden were born. Everything else is just a bonus, but family is everything.
WHAT IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING YOU’VE EVER BOUGHT?
Well I am sure there are many, but as a young angler some of the gadget fishing lures or pieces of equipment that would either break or I would have no success using. hat was the lesson learned? Only buy stuff you have confidence in or could see yourself having confidence in.
WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
If something is worth working for, then do it at 100%, because whatever result you wish to achieve will be the result you put into trying to achieve it.
WHAT TRAIT DO YOU ADMIRE IN PEOPLE?
Great Leadership qualities. There is something about watching a great leader in action.
WHAT’S YOUR WORST HABIT?
Being OCD sometimes and worrying about things getting done. I just need to sit back and relax somedays, which is where fishing and the boat come in. It is my peaceful place.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MODEL OF LUND TO FISH OUT OF AND WHY?
219 Lund Pro V GL is a fishing machine. I have fished out of aluminum Pro Vs as well and any Pro V model is the standard in the fishing industry. This past season I started running a 219 Lund Pro V GL and it was everything I expected it to be. It handles with flying colors the big waters of Leech, Mille Lacs, and Cass but also its handling both running and fishing as well as the storage and set up fits everything I want in a boat.
ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SAY TO OUR ENTIRE STAFF AT LUND BOATS?
This is truly an honor to work with some of the greatest anglers and people in the fishing industry who represent Lund Boats. Whether it is on the water, at Sport Shows, at tournaments, or within the community, working with Lund Boats is about being part of a family that has a common vision and belief. To the folks who design and build Lund Boats, I want them to know each time I hit the water that my boat has been built from folks who have a passion for the brand and its performance. That just makes an angler feel great each time they go fishing.
